Where our information comes from

Guides cite government labor pages (the US Department of Labor, GOV.UK), university productivity research and peer-reviewed studies where a claim about attention or switching is made. Conventions such as tenth-of-an-hour billing are described as conventions, with where they are common, not as rules. Every guide lists its sources; the review ledger lives in the repository as GUIDES-REVIEW.md.

How we use AI

AI helps draft the guides. Every number in a table is recomputed and every claim is checked against its source before a page becomes indexable. The calculators are plain arithmetic that runs in your browser; nothing typed into them is sent anywhere.

What this site will not do

It will not tell you what you are legally owed. Overtime, minimum rest and pay rules differ by country, state and contract, and a guide can only describe the general shape and point you to the authority. Timeness itself is a personal tracker, not payroll or invoicing software.

Corrections

We want to get this right. If you spot an error, tell us and we'll review it against the sources and update the guide.

How a guide is built

Each guide opens with a direct answer, then three to five short sections that follow the questions people actually type, a table where a table beats prose (decimal conversions, hours in a year, a day-rate worked example), the takeaways, and the sources. Where a convention varies, the guide says where it varies rather than picking one.

Guides are re-checked against their sources at least once a year; the date on each page is the last time that check ran.
